All terriers are not created equal!  The Rat Terrier is the least like your traditional terrier and all that you might have heard about terriers. Don’t get me wrong, they are “terriers” in some respect, but they are incredibly biddable and therefore excellent for obedience, rally, agility, scent work, lure coursing, sprinters, barn hunt and conformation, to name a few. Whatever sports you can think of for your dog, the rat terrier is doing. They are the Do Everything Dog!

However, they are still incredibly good family members, extremely loyal to their pack, cuddly bed and couch buddies and very capable of switching off to relax. 

The first step is to fill out the Andado Puppy Application. Alternatively, you can email andadoratterriers@gmail.com with background about your home, family environment, and features you’re looking for in a puppy.

Puppies are $1,800-2,000. To be on my official waitlist with a reserved puppy, a $500.00 deposit must be made, which goes toward this total.

Puppies are matched as they grow to the best-fit homes, depending on personality, size, etc. I also take into account family preferences.

I do not generally breed more than one litter a year.  This will depend on the number of interested puppy buyers and whether I want a puppy from the breeding. Watch the litters page on the website to be notified of future breeding and litter timings. 

I breed standard rat terriers and the puppies at Andado tend to be 15-18" high at the shoulder. However, my foundation bitch was only 11” and sometimes this does pop up in the litter.  Puppies mature into muscular adults, and this means that Andado dogs typically weigh 15-22lb. The size and genetics of the sire can affect this size and weight, but we work towards standardizing and setting our breed type: breeding so that what you see in the dogs is what you get.

Puppies all get examined by a licensed veterinarian at eight weeks of age; they receive their first set of shots, deworming, and microchip.

I offer a two-year health guarantee on congenital health defects and a two-year guarantee towards hip dysplasia (terms/conditions apply). I guarantee that puppies are DNA clear and not affected by PLL, PRA.

Puppies are placed in their forever, pet/working homes registered with the CKC on a non-breeding contract. As a rule, I do not sell dogs for breeding purposes.

Dew claws are removed and tails are usually docked. If you are interested in a puppy with a full tail, then you must give a non-refundable deposit within two days of the litter being born and a puppy will be selected for you.

I practice Early Neurological Stimulation and Early Scent Introduction from Day 3-16. Sensory mats and experiences are introduced from two weeks on, and puppies become familiar with crate time and alone time. At ~7 weeks I perform Volhard Puppy Aptitude Testing to better understand temperament.

Shipping is available for an Andado puppy, and we use WestJet or Air Canada. Puppies are shipped alone in cargo or with a nanny, in cabin, depending on the size of the puppy and whether you want the puppy with a nanny. This service is to select cities, and the puppies are 8-10 weeks of age at the time of travel. Up to two puppies may share a crate, and the cost is approximately $400. Some weather restrictions may apply in Winter. Nanny companion services for me to physically bring the puppy are available ($250-500 fee + flight cost).
